Happy New Year everybody! I thank each and every one of you for the continuous support you’ve given me in 2016. Wishing everyone the most joyous and prosperous 2017!
My very first recipe for 2017 is a smoothie recipe. Between Christmas and New Years, I’ve been stuffing my face and I need to give my system a rest and a reboot. This raw vegan apple pie smoothie recipe will be perfect for that! It’s loaded with apples and bananas, and still lets you enjoy the all American good ole apple pie flavor. Apple pie reminds me of my mom. She’s Japanese but she made a legit apple pie for us growing up. I like to nurse this apple pie smoothie whenever I’m starting to feel a little homesick. So if you love apple pie like me, this one is for you!
Well, there’s not much to it, but let’s get blending. Core the apples and chop them up so it’s easier on the blender. Add all the ingredients and blend until smooth! Pour it into a glass and sprinkle some cinnamon and, voila! Tasty apple pie smoothie done in minutes!
I actually prefer to drink green smoothies. Even though this recipe doesn’t call for it, I would probably add baby spinach to it just to get the extra chlorophyll and protein. What can I say, I like my greens! Baby spinach is perfect for this as it won’t alter the apple pie flavor.
I hope you like it and it inspires those warm and fuzzy feeling that come from nostalgia.
